On High Instructions from HM the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, ground, air and medical components of the Royal Armed Fores are mobilized to bring relief, assistance, and comfort, if necessary, to populations that could be affected by bad weather, snowfall and cold waves, in a logic of complementarity with local authorities.
Thanks to the system deployed every year during the winter, the necessary support and assistance should be provided to the populations that would face bad weather, particularly those who are isolated due to heavy snowfalls.
The mechanism put in place by the FAR, on high royal instructions, aims to help the landlocked populations by bringing food, blankets and health care to the most remote points.
This operation involves the use of FAR air assets such as helicopters, considered as the most suitable vector for this type of intervention. Ground and air assets are placed on alert in the provinces prone to cold spells to be prepared to intervene.
The ground system of the FAR consists of pre-positioned inter-army rescue modules stationed in Tangier-Larache, Tetouan-Chefchaouen, Oujda, Er-Rachidia, Marrakech, Ben Guérir and Ouarzazate.
These modules, made up of qualified personnel from the various organs of the FAR General Staff, are reinforced by the air component, which deploys transport, evacuation and rescue means.
In order to ensure optimal efficiency to the intervention of the FAR for the benefit of landlocked populations, a Monitoring and Surveillance Cell is activated at the level of the General Staff of the FAR.
It is responsible for coordinating the actions of the units engaged at the central level with the Monitoring and Surveillance cell operating under the Ministry of the Interior.
