This decision is historic because it is a decree signed by the President of the United States of America, a country whose role and weight on the international scene are self-evident and that is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, he noted in an interview with Malagasy newspaper "Les Nouvelles".
The US recognition is a crowning achievement of the work of Royal diplomacy and of many years of work and exchange between the two countries, the diplomat added.
The immediate effect of this decision is declined on at least three levels. "First, internally in the United States, where the decision has been communicated to various institutions and has already been published in the federal register. One of the first effects is the adoption by the US Administration of the full map of Morocco," he explained.
The United States notified the UN Secretary General and the President of the Security Council of this decision, which was handed over to member states as a document of the Council, the diplomat went on.
At the bilateral level, it will result in the opening of a US Consulate General in Dakhla, in the Moroccan Sahara, with an essentially economic vocation, to promote investment and business opportunities in the region, he said.
The ambassador recalled, in this context, that under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a vast development program has been launched in Morocco's southern provinces, including road and port infrastructure, health and education.
On bilateral relations, the diplomat noted that the dynamic of solidarity between Morocco and the brotherly people of Madagascar was again expressed in a very strong way during the month of June when the country received a large shipment of medical equipment and medicines in support of the country's efforts to fight against Covid-19, upon instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
