"No one can deny the weight and the significant role of the Moroccan community in the world which reaches 5 million people. Its contribution is invaluable. It represents a lobbying force that has proven its worth in defending the territorial integrity of the Kingdom," the Moroccan diplomat said in an interview with MAP.
"This community is an essential component of the Moroccan people. It is ready to defend its interests and face the enemies and their anti-Moroccan theses. The latest demonstrations in European cities have been indisputable proof of this innate and spontaneous readiness," he said.
According to the Moroccan Consul, the strength and importance of this community resides in patriotism, commitment and the ability to mobilize within the framework of structures, alliances and collectives known for their dynamism and permanent and continuous activism.
"The diaspora has always been a component of the nation's diplomacy, thus an added value of parallel diplomacy that has proven its efficiency and influence in fora on multiple issues," El Bouazzaoui stated.
"It is high time to give voice to this community and provide it with the necessary means to carry out major actions and effectively support its country of origin," he said.
Recalling the active mobilization of the Moroccan community established in France, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands in support of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and the peaceful intervention of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to restore freedom of movement in El Guergarat crossing, the diplomat stressed that "Moroccans around the world have fought other battles, including on social networks" to express their support, solidarity and pride, to counter all those who try to undermine Morocco's territorial integrity and to condemn all the maneuvers of separatists and their backers.
On the US decision to recognize Morocco's full sovereignty over its Sahara, El Bouazzaoui said that it had "a very positive echo" among the Moroccan community living abroad.
According to the Moroccan diplomat the US decision, which is "a historic act of extreme importance", is "a great victory for Moroccan diplomacy and the crowning achievement of a whole process and work of our diplomacy under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI."
