Some 200 young children, aged between 12 and 16, will benefit from the new TIBU Laayoune Center by US Embassy Morocco, which seeks to develop cognitive and socio-emotional skills and promote a sustainable transformation through sport.
This new center, inaugurated in partnership with the ministry of National Education, is the first of its kind in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region and the 22nd at the national level.
It is the result of a deep commitment by the two partners to address the major challenges facing Moroccan society, mainly the education and empowerment of young people, according to NGO officials.
These 200 young people will thus have the opportunity to find the path to empowerment and educational success through a program that focuses on learning individual and collective techniques of basketball and foreign languages as well, in addition to courses promoting leadership.
This program is in line with the strategic vision of the 2015-2030 reform of the Ministry of National Education, which aims to rebuild a modern and qualitative education model.
Faced with the current situation facing the world and Morocco linked to the health crisis and in the light of diplomatic advances in the Sahara issue, "sport manifests itself as an effective and efficient tool for responding to complex issues that are slowing down the development of these regions ", said Mohamed Amine Zariat, Ashoka Fellow and founding president of TIBU Maroc NGO.
He said he was "proud" to launch this program with a strong social and sustainable impact, in a context marked by the "various achievements made by the Moroccan people" on the way to the strengthening of national sovereignty over the whole territory of the Sahara region.
The launch of this new program in the presence of David Schenker, confirms the deep commitment of the historic partnership between TIBU Maroc and the US embassy in Morocco for the development and empowerment of Moroccan youth, he added at the inauguration ceremony.
