Speaking at a meeting with professionals on the revitalization of urban planning and development sector in the region of Dakhla Oued Eddahab, Bouchareb said the program, launched in 2018, has reached advanced stages.
According to the minister, 39 million dirhams have been earmarked to fight against substandard housing in Dakhla, within the framework of an agreement on the urban upgrading of the city and of the emerging centers in the province of Oued Eddahab.
The Ministry of National Territorial Planning, Housing and City Policy has allocated about 750 million dirhams, within the framework of the new housing and urban planning program for Morocco's southern provinces (2007-2015), she said.
The official noted that the urban upgrading and restructuring programs of under-equipped neighborhoods have contributed greatly to improving the living conditions of the population, through the establishment of the necessary basic equipment including roads, public squares, green spaces, public services and the liquid sanitation network.
These programs had a positive impact on the population and resulted in Dakhla holding the title of city without slums in in 2010, Bouchareb said.
The meeting was attended by the wali of the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Lamine Benomar, the governor of the province of Aousserd, Abderrahaman El Jaouhari and the presidents of the elected councils.
