Ksar El-Kebir: Attempt to Smuggle over 2.3 Tonnes of Cannabis Resin Foiled - Police

Rabat - The judicial police of Ksar El-Kebir thwarted Friday evening, on the basis of accurate information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), a drug trafficking attempt of 2 tonnes and 360 kilograms of cannabis resin and arrested an individual for alleged ties to a criminal network active in drugs and psychotropic pills' trafficking.

This security operation carried out in the "Souaken" rural area, located 30 km from Ksar El-Kebir, resulted in the seizure of two cars allegedly used to smuggle drug shipments, National Police (DGSN) said in a release.

Search operations of the two vehicles resulted in the seizure of three knives and 65 bundles of drugs, weighting 2 tonnes and 360 Kg of cannabis resin, it added.

The suspect was placed in police custody for the investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office in order to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and arrest all accomplices, concludes the DGSN.
