Morocco Records 1,240 New COVID-19 Cases, 1,361 Recoveries over Past 24 Hours

Rabat - Morocco has recorded 1,240 new cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the past 24 hours while 1,361 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the same period, the Ministry of Health said Saturday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country rises to 458,865, while the number of cured people increases to 433,937, the ministry pointed out in its daily update, adding that the recovery rate has reached 94.6%.

A total of 23 coronavirus-related deaths were registered in the past day, taking the death toll to 7,911, the source pointed out, adding that the fatality rate stands at 1.7%.

These fatalities were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (6), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (4), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (2), the Oriental (2), Souss-Massa (2), Marrakech-Safi (2), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (2), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (1), Fez-Meknes (1) and Draa-Tafilalet (1).

The new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (429), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (268), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (135), the Oriental (125), Souss-Massa (78), Marrakech-Safi (69), Fez-Meknes (46), Draa-Tafilalet (24), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (22), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (20), Guelmim-Oued Noun (19) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (5).

The number of active cases has reached 17,017, including 975 patients in a critical or severe condition, the ministry added.
