Morocco Records 806 New COVID-19 Cases, 988 Recoveries over Past 24 Hours

Rabat - Morocco has recorded 806 new cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the past 24 hours while 988 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the same period, the Ministry of Health said Sunday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country rises to 456,671 while the number of cured people increases to 434,925, the ministry pointed out in its daily update, adding that the recovery rate has reached 94.6%.

A total of 31 coronavirus-related deaths were registered in the past day, taking the death toll to 7,942, the source pointed out, adding that the fatality rate stands at 1.7%.

These fatalities were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (14), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (5), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (3), Marrakech-Safi (3), Fez-Meknes (2), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (2), the Oriental (1) and Draa-Tafilalet (1).

The new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (274), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (142), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (111), Souss-Massa (68), the Oriental (64), Marrakech-Safi (57), Fez-Meknes (42), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (29), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (7), Draa-Tafilalet (5), Guelmim-Oued Noun (4) and Beni Mellal-Khenifra (3).

The number of active cases has reached 16,804, including 937 patients in a critical or severe condition, the ministry added.
