The pharmacist's assistant, her sister, and a cab driver were caught red-handed while receiving a quantity of psychotropic drugs from an individual involved in drug and psychotropic drug trafficking, the National Police (DGSN) said in a statement.
The investigation opened on this case led to the arrest of the pharmacist and an employee of a pharmaceutical company, who was handling orders for this type of medication, as well as five other individuals for their alleged involvement in psychotropic drug trafficking operations, it added.
Search operations carried out in the framework of this case allowed the seizure of 24,074 psychotropic pills, three sharp bladed weapons, cell phones, and two cars, as well as a sum of money of 150,000 dirhams, allegedly intended for the payment of this quantity of psychotropic drugs, according to the same source.
The suspects have been placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office to shed light on the ins and outs of this case and identify all those involved in these criminal acts, the police concluded.
