Morocco Records 473 New COVID-19 Cases, 761 Recoveries over Past 24 Hours

Rabat - Morocco has recorded 473 new cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the past 24 hours while 761 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the same period, the Ministry of Health said Monday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country rises to 460,144 while the number of cured people increases to 435,686, the ministry pointed out in its daily update, adding that the recovery rate has reached 94.7%.

A total of 35 coronavirus-related deaths were registered in the past day, taking the death toll to 7,977, the source pointed out, adding that the fatality rate stands at 1.7%.

These fatalities were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (08), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (07), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (06), Souss-Massa (05), the Oriental (4), Fez-Meknes (2), Marrakech-Safi (1), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (1) and Draa-Tafilalet (1).

The new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the regions of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (113), Casablanca-Settat (107), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (55), Fez-Meknes (51), Souss-Massa (47), the Oriental (42), Marrakech-Safi (17), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (10), Draa-Tafilalet (10), Guelmim-Oued Noun (9), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (7) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (5).

The number of active cases has reached 16,481, including 930 patients in a critical or severe condition, the ministry added.
