Held on the theme "“Arts, Culture and Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want”, the meeting 

is expected to deliberate and discuss the Institutional Reform of the AU as well as the progress made on the African Union response on COVID-19 pandemic in Africa.

The Summit will also be marked by the election and appointment of the leadership of the AU Commission.

The 34th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly was preceded, Wednesday and Thursday, by the 38th Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council.
