COVID-19: 496 New Cases, Over 1.1 Mln People Vaccinated (Health Ministry)

Rabat - Morocco recorded 496 new cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the past 24 hours while 631 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the same period, the ministry of Health said on Friday, adding that 1,112,103 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country rises to 477,656 while the number of cured people increases to 457,956, the ministry pointed out in its daily update, adding that the recovery rate has reached 96%.

A total of 10 coronavirus-related deaths were registered in the past day, taking the death toll to 8,450, the source pointed out, adding that the fatality rate stands at 1.8%.

These fatalities were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (3), Draa-Tafilalet (3), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1), the Oriental (1), Souss-Massa (1) and Fez-Meknes (1).

The new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (214), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (74), the Oriental (63), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (38), Souss-Massa (29), Draa-Tafilalet (15), Laayoune-Sakia Al Hamra (10), Marrakech-Safi (28), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (9), Fez-Meknes (8), Beni Mellal-Khénifra (7) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1).

The number of active cases has reached 11,250, including 501 patients in a critical or severe condition, the ministry added.
