In a statement, the National Police (DGSN) said the security operation was carried out on the Saidia city waterfront.

The judicial police has intercepted a utility vehicle with fake license plates, carrying 120 bundles of cannabis resin weighing 4 tonnes and 55 kilograms, it added.

Investigations into the case resulted in the arrest of the eight suspects not far from the scene of the incident, the statement said.

The adult suspects have been taken into custody, while the minor has been subject to police surveillance, at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and all the charges held against the individuals arrested.
