This session, the opening of which was chaired by Speaker of the House of Advisors, Hakim Benchamach, was held in the presence of Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit.
This session is held in accordance with the provisions of Article 66 of the Constitution, the provisions of article 20 of the Rules of Procedure of the House, and decree 2.21.124.
Speaking on this occasion, Benchamach recalled that this session comes one month after the closure of the ordinary session of October, whose balance has been honorable in terms of quality, quantity, legislation and parliamentary oversight.
This session is part of the natural interaction of the legislative institution with the current events in the country and its key issues, he added.
The House interacted very early with the spirit of seriousness, innovation and initiative needed, Benchamach noted, adding that two thematic groups have been created to prepare a report on the reform of the social protection system as well as the annual session devoted to the review and evaluation of public policies related to employment.
These two thematic groups are in full action, through the collection of data and the hearing of relevant government officials, he said.
Stressing the major national stakes entailed by this Extraordinary Session, the Upper House Speaker called for greater sense of responsibility and collective mobilization to meet this challenge, through effective participation in the various stages of examination and vote on legislative texts.
The opening session was followed by a legislative session devoted to the examination and vote on the finalized texts on the agenda.
