"The detainee (M.M.) notified orally, Monday afternoon, the administration of the penal institution to have begun a hunger strike because of the case subject of his detention, contrary to what has been peddled by some parties who claim that the detainee in question had begun this strike since March 4, 2021," said the local Prison El Arjat 2 in a clarification.

Despite attempts by the administration of the local Prison El Arjat 2 to dissuade him from going on hunger strike, which would have consequences on his health, the detainee was firm in his decision, added the clarification.

After his insistence, the person concerned was placed under the supervision of the medical staff of the penal establishment and the competent judicial authorities were notified, the same source reported.
