In a meeting with Moroccan ambassador to Kenya El Mokhtar Ghambou, the president of the CoG, which is the second Kenyan institution after the Parliament, highlighted the South-South cooperation, initiated and advocated by HM the King Mohammed VI.
Wambora expressed his country's wish to benefit from the rich Moroccan experience in decentralization and devolution. "Several African countries, including Kenya would like to learn from Morocco how to develop agriculture and promote tourism, and want to benefit from its experience in good governance in the field of decentralization," he said.
The Kenyan official also praised Morocco's political stability as well as its tolerance embodied in the harmonious coexistence between Muslims, Jews and Christians.
"The political stability and tolerance of the Kingdom, under the leadership of HM the King, are examples to be promoted throughout Africa," said Wambora.
He also invited the twelve regions of the Kingdom of Morocco to establish direct contacts with the Council of Governors of Kenya in order to jointly examine all avenues and explore all the opportunities to develop partnership between Morocco and Kenya.
The President of the CoG said he was "impressed" by the development of Moroccan agriculture as well as by the policy followed by the Kingdom in the management of water resources, through the construction of dams. "We are very interested in this Moroccan experience, which is unique in Africa, and we would like to benefit from it," he said.
He also called on Moroccan investors to explore the investment opportunities available in this East African country, especially in the food industry.
Regarding the Sahara issue, the official assured that he will insist that the central government supports the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty, as the one and only solution to this conflict.
He added, in this context, that he will choose ten governors among the 47 in the Council to pay a visit, as of May 15, to the southern provinces and get informed of the reality that prevails on the ground.
"We are ready to visit the provinces of Dakhla and Lâayoune to put an end to the false theses put forward by some parties concerning the Moroccan Sahara", he insisted.
