The celebration by Morocco of this day is also a way to reiterate its commitment to the great Francophone family by sharing the same universal values of peace, dialogue and solidarity, noted El Hnot who was speaking at a video conference organized on the occasion of the celebration by the ministry of the International Francophonie Day, under the sign of youth, employability and gender equality issues.
Indeed, the Kingdom's relations with the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) have continued to grow and diversify to include, in addition to cooperation in the areas of action of the OIF, actions of partnership and mobilization on global issues of common interest, said the representative of Morocco to the OIF.
For her part, French ambassador to Morocco, Hélène Le Gal, said that the Francophonie, which is celebrated throughout the world during the month of March, is an opportunity to honor the French language.
According to Le Gal, the French language is the 5th most spoken language in the world, adding that it is also an African language. "The second largest French-speaking country in terms of number of speakers is the Democratic Republic of Congo with 44 million speakers. 55% of French speakers live in Africa," she said.
The month of March is an opportunity to recall the values of solidarity, dialogue and respect for the diversity of cultures and languages that this language carries, noted the ambassador, adding that this language is not exclusive, but it is fully accompanied by the linguistic plurality as illustrated by the case of Morocco.
