"There is a well-defined border between audacity and insolence, between militancy and destruction, between reformist discourse and the subversive approach", said Idrissi in a statement to TV channel M24, in reaction to statements by Monjib following his provisional release by judicial order.
While noting that "everyone is supposed to refrain from making value judgments and triggering such disorder", she wondered: "who gave these people the right to speak on behalf of the people?"
"Because anyone who loves his country and considers himself a true human rights activist must, in principle, defend all social classes, especially women victims of sexual assault," she said.
Idrissi explained that "when Monjib describes the victims of Taoufik Bouachrine as puppets used to make against the latter false accusations, he is completely wrong and is undeniably at odds with the law".
"Anyone who claims to be a human rights defender must be concerned about the application of the law and be careful not to push for double standards," she said, noting that making judgments on the Bouachrine case must be based on evidence.
She added that "we refer to the Constitution, to international conventions and to the relating sovereign legislations. In addition, the action of national institutions of all kinds is governed by the constitutional provisions, which empower them to accomplish their missions of preserving public order and protecting individuals and property.
Unfortunately, there are some so-called human rights defenders guided in their activism by malicious intentions, as they throw themselves into the arms of foreign organizations hostile to Morocco, she deplored.
The statements made by Maati Monjib denote a mercantile behavior vis-à-vis the causes of women and vulnerable categories on the part of self-proclaimed activists who, precisely in the name of the defense of these same categories, illicitly receive funds from foreign forces intended, in reality, to prejudice the country's institutions, she said.
"Instead of embarking on a fiery diatribe damaging the institutions of his country, Monjib should applaud the Moroccan justice which allowed him to enjoy the right to provisional release, as guaranteed by the law", she insisted, describing the remarks of this one on the Bouachrine case as a "fabric of lies and allegations which are unrelated to the proven facts".
Finally, Meryem Jamal Idrissi, who was part of the defense of victims in the Bouachrine trial, considered that "we cannot seriously argue that we want to contribute to the progress of our country, if we do not demonstrate the proper respect due to its security and judicial institutions".
"However, when any body, whatever the extent of its powers, is convinced of overstepping, we, as lawyers and human rights defenders, have the appropriate means and mechanisms to intervene, given that we have a Law and a Constitution which represent the sole arbiter between the citizens," she concluded.
