During a reception organized jointly by the embassies of Morocco and Israel in Kenya, Friday in Nairobi, the Moroccan Jewish community, composed of about forty members, wished to express its visceral attachment to the culture of its country of origin, Morocco.
All senior executives well integrated into the Kenyan society, members of the Moroccan Jewish community, wished to reaffirm their gratitude and their unwavering attachment to HM King Mohammed VI and to the glorious Alawite Throne.
In a speech on this occasion, the Moroccan ambassador to Kenya, El Mokhtar Ghambou highlighted the singular symbiosis that unites the Jewish populations from Morocco and the glorious Alaouite throne, as part of their allegiance to the latter.
Highlighting the "special and unique" relationship that unites Moroccan Jews to their country of origin, Ghambou warmly welcomed the decision taken by Morocco, under the wise and insightful leadership of HM King Mohammed VI , to resume diplomatic relations and promote economic relations with Israel, in perfect harmony with Morocco's steadfast positions in favor of peace in the Middle East and by virtue of the special ties that unite the Jewish community of Moroccan origin to the sovereign.
For his part, Israel's Ambassador to Nairobi, Joseph Oded, said that Morocco's Jewish community, unlike others, is the most attached to its origins. "We often wonder why the Jews of Morocco remain so attached to their country regardless of their place of residence? How to explain the tolerance between Jews and Muslims in Morocco and why the Moroccan Jewish identity asserts itself all over the world?" he wondered.
Morocco can be proud of having ambassadors who always defend its causes and who always carry their country in their hearts, he said.
This reception took place in the presence of the ambassadors of the Kingdom of Jordan and Malawi.
