This new prize, announced on Sunday evening by the organizers at the end of the 11th edition of the Malmö Festival, is an addition to the track record of an authentic artist of unparalleled prowess.

In this film produced in 2019, Mohamed Mouftakir's third feature film after "Pegasus" (2009) and "The Blind Orchestra" (2015), Naima Lamcharki plays the role of a grandmother in a poetic story with incredible twists.

This 120-minute feature film tells the story of Slimane, a ten-year-old boy whose mother mysteriously disappeared when he was only one year old. His father rejects him believing that he is the result of sin.

"The Fall of Apple Trees" won three other awards: the Prize for the best picture 2020, the Critics Prize 2020 and the Prize for the Federation of Cineclubs 2020.
