During this operation conducted on the basis of accurate information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), two suspects were arrested in the region of "Alnif (about 70 km towards Rissani) aboard a truck transporting goods upon arrival from Agadir, the National Police announced in a statement.

The two suspects were arrested red-handed while transporting 64 bales of cannabis resin weighing 1.5 tonnes, destined for international trafficking, it said.

The investigations led to the arrest of the main suspect involved in planning this operation and of a fourth accomplice. Vehicles suspected of being used in drug trafficking were also seized during this intervention.

The suspected were placed in custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor's office to clarify this case and determine the ramifications.
