The first issue of this new product for spring 2021 is now available on newsstands, with a circulation of 2,000 copies and distribution in Morocco and the Maghreb countries and in Europe.
Consisting of 232 pages of small format, MAP new product is interested in the Maghreb of the people, by proposing to the reader sections highlighting the cultures, arts, traditions, heritage, cities of the Maghreb.
"First the idea: that of a desire to establish a cultural space that transmits as faithfully as possible the richness of our region and its multiple cultural accumulations through the ages, spaces and times," writes MAP Director General, Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, in his preface to the first issue of the magazine.
Noting that the magazine is meant to highlight the Maghrebian creators, and beyond, in all their fundamental differences and all their essential convergence, Hachimi Idrissi explains that "the project is not to found a heritage magazine, even if the heritage is part of our central concerns, but to approach very closely the contemporary creation in our countries and highlight the ideas that federate, that shake and that sublimate".
The Maghreb, he emphasizes, is not in search of a cultural model, it has it at hand. "Neither, it is not in search of an improbable identity, it has a Mediterranean and African tropism which inserts it in a rich, noble and glorious humanity".
Regarding sections, the new magazine offers rich and diversified contents with articles focused on history, Maghrebian cities, events, cinema, plastic arts, portraits and reportage. There are also articles on music, women's leadership, ecology, business, sports, religion, traditions, gastronomy, literature and fashion.
It is a question, says the preface, of a "significant effort so that this cultural magazine, Maghreb 1, is a link between the Maghrebian creators, a haven of peace for our readers and, why not, an inspiring model for those in charge of our common destinyā€¯.
