During talks by videoconference with minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, Nsanzabaganwa expressed her readiness to work together with the Kingdom to build an efficient Union and in favor of "the Africa we want", the ministry underlines.
For his part, Mr. Bourita reiterated to Mrs. Nsanzabaganwa the sincere congratulations of Morocco following her election to the post of Deputy Chairperson of the AU Commission and assured her of the constant and active support of the Kingdom in the implementation of her priorities.
He also recalled Morocco's strong support for the institutional reform of the AU based on a credible intergovernmental process, an efficient Pan-African Commission, constructive interaction with the various stakeholders and the establishment of a mechanism for monitoring and evaluation of AU policies and programs.
The success of this reform hinges on the presence, within the human resources of the AU, of excellent, competitive and efficient profiles and whose recruitment should be done on the basis of merit, fairness, transparency and professionalism, Bourita added.
Mr. Bourita and Ms. Nsanzabaganwa highlighted the positive, constructive and creative role of the African citizen, in particular women and young people, in the achievement of the strategic objective of an integrated and prosperous Africa, the statement said, noting that the two officials agreed to maintain consultations and contacts through joint and concerted work to enable the continent to keep pace with sustainable development and prosperity.
Mr. Bourita extended an invitation to Ms. Nsanzabaganwa to pay a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco as soon as the health situation improves.
These talks, which are part of the consolidation of the continuous dialogue and constructive interaction of Morocco with senior officials of the African Union, was an opportunity to reaffirm the Kingdom's commitment to supporting the efforts of the AU for the achievement of Agenda 2063 "The Africa We Want", in the framework of an approach based on ownership, inclusiveness and transparency, the statement concludes.
