The FAAPA Grand Prix jury awarded the prize for best video report to MAP journalist Mohamed Lachhab for his TV report on the integration of immigrant children, mainly from sub-Saharan Africa, into the Moroccan education system.
Similarly, the prize for the best article was awarded to journalist Simon Benjamin Bassole, of the Agence Ivoirienne de Presse (AIP), for his article entitled "Between breastfeeding and drudgery, girl-mothers dare to do civic service for their reintegration".
The photo prize was awarded to photographer-reporter Dieylani Seydi, of the Senegalese Press Agency (APS). The caption of the winning photo indicates that in Casamance, in the south of Senegal, the salinization of the land is forcing farmers to abandon their activities.
The award ceremony will be held during the next FAAPA General Assembly. The winner in each category will receive a trophy and a certificate signed by the FAAPA President, in addition to one thousand dollars ($1000).
The Grand Prix of FAAPA, which is chaired by Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, Director General of MAP, was launched in 2016 on the occasion of the 2nd General Assembly of this pan-African federation of some 30 news agencies. This competition aims to reward excellence and innovation within African news agencies and to pay tribute to the continent's media skills.
